Superleague Greece is the premier professional soccer league in Greece. It replaced Alpha Ethniki at the top of the Greek football league system after its formation in July 16, 2006.
The league is composed of 16 teams and a season runs from August to May. Each team plays a total of 30 games per season in a home and away series.
Since the foundation of the first official Panhellenic Championship in 1927, only six clubs have won the Superleague title, with the "big three" of Greater Athens (Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens) dominating and only PAOK and AEL managing to break their dominance on a few occasions. The 2017 champions are Olympiacos, who have won a total of 44 titles.
