Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) is the highest level of baseball in Japan. It is colloquially known as 'Puro Yakyū' which translates to 'Professional Baseball'. Outside Japan, it is often just referred to as "Japanese Baseball".
NPB's roots date as far back as 1934 with the formation of the 'Greater Japan Tokyo Baseball Club' and the inception of the original Japanese Baseball League (JBL). NPB was born after the reorganization of the JBL in 1950.
The NBP currently consists of two leagues - the Central League and the Pacific League. Each league is composed of six clubs. Each season, the winning clubs from the two leagues compete in the Japan Series (also known as Nippon Series), similar to Major League Baseball's World Series.
The NPB's season starts in late March or early April, and ends in October, with two or three all-star games in July. Each team plays a total of 146 regular season games. Generally, NPB clubs play six games a week, with every Monday off.
At the conclusion of the regular season, third and second place teams from each league play in the Climax Series - a best-two-of-three series all played at the second place team's home ground. The winner of which face the first place team in another best-of-three series at its home ground. The winners from each league go on to play for the Japan Series.
The NPB also has two secondary-level professional minor leagues, the Eastern League and the Western League, that play shorter schedules.

In the example above, betting $127 on "Over 7" runs wins you $100 if the game's total score reaches 8 runs or more. Meanwhile, betting $100 on "Under 7" runs wins you $107 if the game's total score is 6 runs or less. If in case the games ends with 7 runs, the bookmaker will declare it a push (tie), and all bets are returned.
